Go get it, like a Boss!

Go get it, like a Boss! (1)

“Faith makes it possible to achieve that which man’s mind can conceive and believe.”

– Bruce Lee

gogetitlikeaboss

Confession #1: For so long, I have made excuses for why I cannot achieve my dreams. My excuses are: Money and Ability. What I’ve realized is that, as long as I use my lack of money or certain abilities, as an excuse, I will never fulfill my purpose in life.

We have all been born with a purpose. As we grow and develop, it is up to us to embrace our experiences and to discover what our purpose is. Often times, our purpose is connected to our passion or gift. Sadly, many people live and die, without ever fulfilling their purpose. They know what they are passionate about, they recognize the fire that is burning on the inside of their souls.. Yet, they never ignite. They never use their God-given abilities, allowing the flames to expand, to bless someone else.

Confession #2: I don’t want that to be me.. I don’t want to look myself in the mirror, at an old age, and ask myself, “What have you done with your life?” I don’t want to see my reflection looking back at me with regret. So while I still have a chance to make it right, I am making a promise to myself. I promise, not to let what I lack, keep me from what belongs to me.

What belongs to us?

Success belongs to us. But in order to achieve success, we have to put in the work. We have to be willing to work with what we have.We have to develop a work ethic, that will push us beyond our struggles, beyond the stumbling blocks that will come.  Sometimes we will find that we are lacking a certain skill/ability or possession, that if we did have it,  the journey to success would be much easier. However, we can’t let what we lack stop us from attaining success. We have to work like a boss. We have to have a mentality that doesn’t make excuses for anything. It’s all about taking initiative and working with what we have and depending on God to deliver the rest.

it's go time... (5)Having faith and trusting God makes all the difference. When we find ourselves lacking, we have to trust Gods word, which says, that he will supply all of our needs. Our life purpose is according to God’s plan for our life. So, we were birthed with the abilities that we would need to carry out his plan for our lives. If we ever find that we are lacking anything, whether it be money, a skill, etc. We must trust that if we ask him, he will give us what we need to carry on. Why? Because it’s his will that we prosper in every aspect of our lives. It’s his will that we fulfill our purpose, his plan for our lives, and that we attain what belongs to us… success.

Philippians 4:19 says, But my God  shall supply all your need, according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

Jeremiah 29:11 says, For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

Romans 8:28 says, And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

15840967758_ba438ce23b_o

Matthew 7: 7-8 says, Ask, and it shall be give you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.

Psalm 35:27 says, Let them shout for joy, that favor my righteous cause: yea, let them say continually, Let the Lord be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant.

Psalm 115: 14 says, May the Lord give you increase more and more, you and your children.

And finally, Deuteronomy 28: 10 – 13 says, Then all the people on earth will see that you are called by the name of the Lord, and they will fear you. The Lord will grant you abundant prosperity – in the fruit of your womb, the young of your livestock and the crops of your ground – in the land he wore to your ancestors to give you.

That’s just verse 10 and 11, verse 12 says, The Lord will open the heavens, the storehouse of his bounty, to send rain on your land in the season and to bless all the work of your hands. You will lend to many nations but will borrow from none… 13… The Lord will make you the head, not the tail. If you pay attention to the commands of the Lord your God that I give you this day and carefully follow them, you will always be at the top, never at the bottom.

it's go time...I love those verses! Cause seriously, all we have to do is obey what God tells us to do and we can attain success. It’s right there for us. It’s within reach. It’s clear that his desire is for us to prosper in every aspect of our lives. Though, he never promised that the road would be easy. If the journey is easy, the it’s probably not worth the destination. And, that’s okay, because it’s not about how we start, but how we finish. It’s not about the journey.. Really, it’s all about getting there! It’s all about finally getting to the place where we are finally operating in our God given purpose. Doing what it is we love to do and are meant to do in life. Whatever it is, we can know that it is sure, because it will not only benefit us, but others as well.

It’s go time… It’s time to let go of all excuses, past failures and mistakes. It’s time to kick rejection and disappointment to the curb. It’s time to ignite! It’s time to embrace our passion, set goals, and  pursue our dreams! It’s time to get out of our comfort zone and to finally, live our lives, operating in our God given purpose. Success belongs to us, so let’s go get it. It’s time to work… like a boss!

In the Face of Fear

Fearless

“… A girl born without the fear gene.”

282210

When I was a teenager, I was obsessed with a novel series of books called Fearless by Francine Pascal.  I remember, I collected the entire series, minus the two or three books I was unlucky to find. But, I held onto the books that I had, for as long as I could. It wasn’t the author or the story-line that intrigued me the most, although it was dramatic, intense and highly captivating in many ways.. It was the main character, Gaia, which means”earth.” Gaia was a strong and independent female, who had an extremely intense past, present and future. As a reader, I was always on the edge of my seat, not knowing what would happen next. Nevertheless, I could always expect that Gaia would come through. She would do what she had to do, no matter what violent attack, whether physical or verbal, came her way. She was absolutely fearless!

I want that.. I want to have such a boldness that is ruthless and immovable. I want to be humble but carefree. I want to have a perfect balance between the two.

Over the past few days, I have had several experiences, in which I’ve had to stand strong in the face of fear. Two weeks ago, my dad had a heart attack. That same week, was my first week working at my new internship. It was both exciting and nerve-racking. For both scenarios, I had to step outside of my comfort zone. I was assigned tasks that I was nervous about doing. Deep down, I knew I had what it took to do what needed to be done, but I wouldn’t be able to do it successfully, unless I became like Gaia. At least, a little bit. I had to become fearless. I had to focus on the end goal, and embrace a determination that would surely carry me to the end. And it did.

ee7ccf11df4e58b0bd4b5dcaa5887e64Today, I just want to encourage you to be fearless. That may not be entirely possible, when we are depending on our own strenghs and our own abilities. However, nothing is impossible with God. With the help of God, we can overcome fear and succeed in every circumstance. We can do what we have to do with boldness and courage. The key, is to look to Jesus and to trust in him and be confident in who he has created us to be. Knowing, that he has made us well able to accomplish what he has set out for us to do. You can do it… I believe in you and I believe in me! By the grace of God, we can and will stand strong in the face of fear.

Be confident in who God has created you to be.

Thanks for reading!

These are 8 individuals who have forged their own path. The attained success even though they didn’t do it the way many of us are told we have to do it. Growing up, it was strongly reinforced that in order to get a good job and make good money, you have to go to college, no exceptions. And, even though I have graduated from University with a degree, and plan to keep going, that doesn’t mean that college is my only option. Yes, it’s a great path to take, but it’s not the only one. Sometimes life happens, and can disrupt our plans. That doesn’t mean it has to disrupt our dreams. It just means that we’ll have to take another pathway to get to our dreams.

There are many ways to get to success.. It doesn’t matter how you get there… As long as it’s legal and isn’t a sex tape.. You should be good! Some of have dreams that a degree won’t get us. Sure, a degree can qualify us to work for a company, making great money to build someone else’s dream, but it’s not always our own. It’s encouraging that many people are discovering this and are deciding to make a change. They are deciding to step out on faith and make their own dream a reality.

Why your dream can come true in 2016..!

The Reason Why Your Dream Will Come True…
image
http://www.fuccha.in

“To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream; not only plan, but also believe.”

-Anatole France

If you are wondering what your purpose in life is, there is a chance that it is connected to your gift or passion. What are you gifted in doing? Or, what are you passionate about? Often times, it is our gift and passion that is connected to our destiny.

After you have discovered what your gift is or what you are passionate about, it is important to recognize that no matter what happens during your pursuit to success, your dream is possible. Your goal can be accomplished

So many people are living and dying with potential, never living the life they were created to live. Never doing what God gave them the ability to do. We must know that whatever we have gone thru has been preparation and sooner or later it will be go time! We have to stay focused on Christ, so we don’t miss our set time.

The reason so many people are not living out their dreams is because they are living under negativity. They may have been told they can’t do it, its not possible, they’ll never be somebody and that they should be more practical. However, they still have a flame burning on the inside. And no matter how much negativity is covering it, its still there. But today, I want to let you know, that your dream is possible! Not because a human being says it is, but because God says it is possible.
image

Whatever dream or goals that you have can be fulfilled, regardless of what other people think. It only matters what you think.. That you believe its possible. Knowing, that with God all things are possible!

Mark 9:23 says,
Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes” (NKJV).

Believe it!

Stay in Your Lane!

When you’re in your own lane, there is no traffic!

images

Have you ever found yourself driving down the highway, when out of nowhere, the car in the lane beside you begins to swerve in your direction!?  So you turn and give them the death stare, and yell “What is your problem? Stay in your lane!” Or, something like that… Well! I know the feeling, it can be frustrating, as, it happens in Phoenix all the time. Low-key, it is probably *texting and driving*   Anyway, I said all of that, only to say this… stay in your lane! Not just on the highway, but in every aspect of your life. Whatever it is you want to do with your life, I am sure that you want to be successful. One of the keys to success, happens to be… “stay in your lane!”

Don’t compare yourself to other people. While it is okay to admire and learn from those who are more experienced or well seasoned at what they do, it is not okay, to compare yourself and belittle your own talent, gift and ability.

If God has called you to do something and you happen to do it differently than someone else, embrace the difference and do you! You have a different purpose, that you were called to. You were birthed into this world to fulfill a different purpose, to satisfy a different need than the other. Dare to be different. Don’t be afraid of being different. Yes, you will get tired of me saying “stay in your lane” and “different,” but please hear me out.. I beg you! Do not compare yourself to someone else. God has entrusted you with a specific gift, he did not give to someone else an identical, he gave it to you. Even if it appears to be same, its not. He trusts you, to own your craft and to put in work, to be the best that you can possibly be. Not, to measure up to someone else. Don’t belittle what God has given you or what you are capable of doing.

And…

If you don’t know which lane you belong in, then remember this: It’s okay to venture in another lane, before you fully recognize where you belong. Now, I realize that sounds hypocritical and completely contradicts everything I’ve been telling you. However, I want you to know that if you find yourself swerving into an unfamiliar lane, learn from that experience. See, if you were to swerve and hit or come close to hitting another vehicle, I’m sure you’d learn your lesson. Next time, you would be less likely to do whatever it was that caused you to lose focus and swerve into another lane. Likewise, learn from every experience. If you find yourself outside of your comfort zone, learn from it. Now you know, that is or is not where you belong.

Stay in your lane..

This simply means to be exactly who God created you to be. Accept that you were not created to be a carbon  copy of somebody else. Too many people are striving to be reflections of their idols, the people that they look up to and aspire to be. It is okay to admire them and to follow their examples. However, we must not let it take away from our individual assignment, which is to be individual! Be who you are, exclusively. And when you do this, you will notice that not everyone will applaud your moves. Not everyone will support you. And, not everyone will understand you. That is okay! In fact, in most cases, that means that you are doing something right.

All I’m saying is…

So stay in your lane, for the safety of yourself and others. Someone is waiting for you to make an impact, to make a difference in this world. This cannot be done if you are trying to be like someone else or live up to someone else’s standards. Live up to Christ’s standards, because at the ended of the day, he created you and his standards are the only one’s that really matter anyway.

You were fearfully and wonderfully made. You were created to do great things. Stay in your lane and don’t be afraid of change. Acknowledge God in all of your ways and he will direct your path! That is a path that will lead you to success.

How to stay in your lane…

Seek God, to develop an understanding of your purpose and what he has called you to do, in order to fulfill that purpose. Once you have a good understanding of what you are called to do, then other things and other people will not be able to sway you or discourage you. You will be able to stand firm in your calling, and not be moved by any gust of wind blowing your way. It’s okay to be you-nique and to do things the way that you do it. Don’t try to do it like anybody else. Stay in your lane.

Past Presents Future

Past Presents Future

It’s been four months since I last heard your voice

I’ve been coping so well, I thought I was over you

Until I was backed into a corner, where there was no avoiding

Memories of you, of us

Of who we were, what we had

Of what we could have been

I had to give you up as if you were a sin

For a year, I came to know you like the back of my hand

Today, it’s as if I fell in love with a stranger

Just another grain, now lost in the sand

My greatest fear is never finding something like what we had

Something so significant

Made up of all the little things

Things,  that made us who we were

Are things, that I loss

And I find myself, desperately searching for those same things

In other relationships

Constantly reflecting back to us

Constantly hoping to replicate an identical “us”

That’s what we called ourselves, “us”

And the truth is, I should stop the search

I should stop comparing

Cuase as daring as it may seem, reality is

There was only one, “us,” there can never be another

I wonder if it was real

If we, were real

“Us” was my reality, our reality

But it faded so quickly

How does something so amazing cease to exist so quickly?

It doesn’t

You may be gone

We may have died

But in my heart

You’re still alive

We, are still thriving

Going strong, never skipping a beat

We are complete…

I fear I will never be complete

Without you in my life

I loss the puzzle piece

I didn’t have a duplicate made

There is no back up

It seems, life would be much easier

If I could just back up

Into our past

Relive our past in the present

And pray to God we had a future just as good, if not better

But the reality is that it will never

So now what?

Simply holding onto memories of what used to be

Is like being locked in prison, longing to be free

Moving on is like wishful thinking

I keep thinking and thinking….

The more I think, the less I’m living

Just to hear your voice, your laughter, one more time

Just to see your smile, one more time

Just to feel your touch, one more time

One more time…

Wouldn’t be enough

No, it wouldn’t be enough

But like a malnourished soul

I would be eternally grateful.

Everyone knows that breakups can be challenging. Especially, when you lose the very one you thought you’d spend the rest of your life with. I lost my boyfriend, my fiance, my best friend, and my brother, all in one, at once. It happened unexpectedly. The relationship that I’d invested so much time, energy and love into, abruptly came to an end. All of a sudden, I had to trade in my fairy tale for reality. And sometimes, reality is just butt ugly and sucks.

We broke up on my birthday. And for about four, long weeks, I felt as if I was living in hell. My vision was so clouded, I couldn’t see past my pain. I was grieving over a lost friend, lover and brother. I tried to bury myself in prayer, but half the time, I never knew what to say. I was feeling some type of way that wasn’t healthy and I just wanted it to end. I didn’t think it would be possible for me to feel the same way I felt about him, about anyone else ever again. All I could think was, why me God, why me? Why did you allow me to go so far far into a relationship, that seemed so right and too good to be true, only to pull the rug from under my feet. It took me forever to accept that what I had could actually be real. And when I finally did, it all came crashing down.

After a month went by, I finally began to start feeling like my old self. Only, with a part of me, missing. I began to adjust to my old reality and got back into my daily routine. It was the most difficult thing, because I felt as if a part of me had died, was still attached to my body, and I was left to carry the dead weight right along with me as I continued on living. Somehow, I made it from there, to here.

Here, is a place of peace and hope. God led me here. Honestly, if God hadn’t rescued me, I’d probably have done something stupid and crazy. Not only did God guard my heart, but he protected my mind. When I felt as if I’d lost everything, he helped me realize that I hadn’t. To this day, I have no idea why things had to end the way they did. But I do know that God was with me before, during and here after. And whatever is to come, I know he’ll be with me then.

All those tears and sleepless nights are gone. I am able to carry on. I may never understand why I had to go through this. But I know that someday, it will all work together for my good.

Romans 8:28 says,

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose (NIV).

Ignite (Getting There)

This is for the girl and the boy
Who has been told no, multiple times
This is for the girl, the boy
Who was told they’d never be somebody
This is for the girl and the boy
Who has been told they are not good enough
This is for the girl, to the boy
Who has been degraded, fat shamed, skinny shamed
Left out or abandoned
This is for the girl, the boy
Who was told he is too short, too tall
Too shy or not talented enough
This is for the girl and the boy
Who grew up in the streets
This is for the child who had nothing to eat
This is for the big brothers, big sisters
Who was left to raise their siblings on their own
This is for the child, who were constantly on the move in foster care
To the one who never had a place to call home
This is to the boy, who was raised by his mother
Whose father was a boy, not man enough to teach him to be what he isn’t
This is to the girl, to the boy
Who couldn’t afford to abide by Hollywood trends
This is for the one who became a victim of an eating disorder
Cause they weren’t model stick thin
This is for the girl and the boy
Who was told that being who they are is a sin
For the girl and the boy, that was fed the bread of lies
This is for those who were swatted away like flies
This is for you, who was never hugged or embraced
This is to you, who is always on the chase
Chasing after a dream that has been trampled under the foot of haters and naysayers
To those of you, who are full of potential, but are just waiting to dance in the aftermath
It’s your turn
To ignite…

There is a fire burning in your eyes
It was lit by your creator
So no man can put it out
No one can dim the shine
Not even the pain, cause even the rain is a prelude to the promise
Of the sun breaking through the dark clouds, to shine again

And even though you’ve been last in line
These words haunt you
The first shall be last and the last shall be first
So never ignore the thirst, rising from the pits of your soul
You know, that feeling, of warmth down inside
That overflowing joy and satisfaction
That moment of recognition and familiarity
Clarity, déjà vu
That indescribable moment that cannot be matched
Because, when you’ve arrived
You feel as if you have finally found home, after a long journey
It’s been a long time coming
And you knew all along, that is where you were meant to be
Epiphany
Even though that fire has been ignited since birth
You were born into a world of sin
And sin delivered its curse, a lack of self-worth
Doubt, fear, and lies
But your creator
Held you in the palm of his hands from the very beginning
He wouldn’t let that stumbling block break you
He intended for it to make you
Handpicked, chosen, there are few
Who got that inner beauty and talent that you do
The gift, the charisma
The passion, the ambition
The struggle, the story
And the bravery to share it with the world
The selflessness to plant a seed, grow a garden
Because your story is your testimony
And your testimony is a gift

Share it
Your creator gave you a lift
He gave you a voice
Now you have a choice
He has enabled you to prick the stone cold hearts
And the thick skulls of the close minded
So if you find it in your heart to begin
Step out on faith
Not to meet fame
But to introduce the world to change
Cause the fire that’s burning inside of you
It was lit by your maker
And though it may fade, he won’t let it die
He won’t let anyone put it out, unless you give them the power to

Control

You are more than what you’ve been through
Your struggles don’t define you
They only build your character, if you let them
But this means living outside of your comfort zone
It means taking the road the less traveled
It means setting your own trend
It means beginning where people told you it would end
And living your own truth

So coming up short, being told no, being last in line
Means nothing to your future
It was only meant to propel you
It was all about getting there
Cause if you keep on traveling the straight and narrow
For a little while longer
The road will be reversed, soon you will be first
Cause that fire, has been ignited for eternity
So the only thing that’s left to do is to turn up!

Turn up the fire
And let the negativity burn
All the no’s, the cant’s and wont’s
Let it burn
Give em’ hell
Cause you were born with a purpose
People can’t give you that
So don’t let their opinions define you
Don’t let them tell you what you are capable of
The best revenge is to do exactly what they said you couldn’t
And to keep going when they say, you shouldn’t
Cause there is a fire in your eyes
It was lit by your creator
No man can put it out
No one can dim the shine, so
Ignite.

Last month I attended an open mic. I love going to open mics, not only to perform, but to be inspired. I have found that the best motivation, for me, is being surrounded by like-minded people. People who love art. People who love sharing their gift, and freedom of expression. I love witnessing growth and potential. I love witnessing bravery, people stepping on stage, pouring out their hearts, sharing their life story, or just a little part of them.

That night, there was a variety of talent that graced the stage. But there was one in particular that remains tattooed in my memory. He was a young man, maybe in high school or fresh out, and he sang a song. It wasn’t the song he sang the struck me, but it was him… His talent… it was raw and inspiring. He may not have had the best voice, but there was potential. All I could think about was how, with voice lessons and some guidance, he could really do something. To the point of, getting a chair to turn on The Voice. I was mesmerized by his potential, his capabilities. All I could see, is what he could be. And it got me thinking… There are so many talented young people in this world, who don’t have anyone to invest in them. They have a gift, but don’t quite know what to do with it. So many, are just one opportunity way from making a difference in this world.

This young mans performance provoked me to thought… What about all the people who are under privileged? Those who have not attended the best schools, and have not been exposed to life changing programs that invest in their talents; developing their skills and giving them the tools to be successful in life. So many are just “getting by.”

There was just something about his performance.. his voice… something that stirred something on the inside of me. A desire, an urge to consider the young people who have a voice but aren’t being heard. Those who really want to make it… Someday, I hope to be in a place where I can help someone, make their dreams come true. But for now, I will use my poetry as a weapon, to fight for them, to stand in the gap. Because I too, am full of potential. Just grateful, for a chance.
